The Department of Housing has recently created a new scheme that is set to benefit both tenants and property investors in Western Australia.
The new Rental Pathways Scheme aims to help make sure that every Western Australian has a place to call home, by assisting eligible tenants in making the transition from public housing into private rental accommodation.
Through the scheme, tenants will be provided with the tools to help them secure and maintain a long-term tenancy in the private rental market, such as subsidised rent for up to 2 years and other forms of assistance.
For home owners, there will be a number of incentives and benefits to being a part of the scheme. These benefits are outlined below:
Guaranteed rent for the term of the lease
Upfront payment of up to 20% of the annual rental income
Up to $5,000 compensation for any property damage (conditions apply)
Tenants with good tenancy history and stable incomes
A 12 month lease with an additional 12 month option at the home owner’s discretion
Security of investment guaranteed by the WA State Government
Dedicated staff from the Department of Housing solely focused on the RPS
The Rental Pathways Scheme sets out to benefit tenants and investment property owners, so if you are interested in taking part in the scheme and finding out more then head to www.rps.housing.wa.gov.au.
